Teaching Future Fields at BEAR ArtEZ, Arnhem

𖦹 Exciting news for the new school year!

Starting next week, I'll be teaching a six-week immersive course at ArtEZ University of the Arts (BEAR), with special guests: Muge Yilmaz, Marija Šujica & Emiel Wolf from Four Siblings.

ᴡʜᴀᴛ?

F͟u͟t͟u͟r͟e͟ ͟F͟i͟e͟l͟d͟s͟ is a course that takes our thinking onto the land with our hands and feet and bodies. Together with art-students from BEAR, we will investigate and speculate future ecologies, communities, or ways of life from a more-than-human perspective.Considering climate change, new relations with the land and new ways of living are immanent - speculative futures are needed!

From macro to micro, from big dreams to significant details; when we think about and design the future, what should we consider? What should we be mindful of? Whose future are we talking about?

In the course, we will consider art-making, filmmaking, writing, farming, land-skills, story-telling and rituals as tools to create and conjure futures and we ask: How to be conscious of the worlds we create through our fictions and propositions?

We will ground our thinking and making in local soil and in our bodies and materials.
We will listen to the land, and explore what new languages and practices of care are required to (re)weave earthly kinship.

May our work create a forcefi͟e͟l͟d͟ that can help sprout possible futures!
